Mike Fulcher
Born and raised on the Outer Banks of NC, began surfing at age 8. Competed in amateur circuit as a teen on the East Coast. Moved to Hawaii in 1983. Ran out of money so joined the army in 1983 and was assigned to the 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, HI for my first 3 years. Departed Hawaii in Jan 1987 and remained in the army over a 20 year period with various assignments across the globe culminating with my final assignment as the US Army Pacific Antiterrorism Operations Officer responsible for Southeast Asia, Oceania, Pacific Rim and Indian Ocean regions. Spent quite a lot of time traveling throughout throughout Indonesia and other coveted surf zones in the line of duty. Assumed the HMSO Presidency in the winter of 1998 and remained in position through the summer of 2003 when I retired. Built the HMSO from a 24 person club to a club with over 350 members worldwide. Evolved the HMSO annual surf contest from a one day club contest to a multi-day International Military Surfing Championships sponsored by many large businesses to Include Budweiser as well as a multitude of surf industry sponsors.

Retired from the army in late summer 2003 but remained on-staff with the HMSO as annual surf-trip coordinator. Have traveled to and surfed in many locations to include the outer islands of Hawaii, the Mentawai Islands of Indonesia, Bali (4x), Mexico, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Panama, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, and both the east and west coast of the continental USA. Currently employed by the US Army Military Police School as a Mobile Trainer for the Antiterrorism Officer’s Basic Course.
